Working Harder

Whether it's developing a market analysis, editing a sound bite for a radio show, fixing that pesky pop-up or giving a recruitment speech on behalf of Nebraska, I dedicate myself always.

Business

Simply put: Passion. Since a young age I have been interested in business. While I first thought that I wanted to pursue Architectural Design, I found through rigorous course work that Economics is where I am most at home. While management and marketing are other strong suits, my passion is leading. This was greatly influenced by my skill and passion for being in leadership roles from Class to NHS to a Resident Floor Leader. There are few things I believe are made for someone and Business is that for me. Through the help of Dean Donde Plowman, I decided that the University of Nebraska and the people there would help me create a successful future, and ultimately achieve my top goals. I look forward to continuing my already incredible collegiate experience at Nebraska through my senior year and getting my MBA at a fantastic institution.

Erin Olson, Jelecos Sales Team, on my performance: "Chris' greatest strength is his productivity and willingness to get things done at a fast rate, but still exceeding expectations of thoroughness."

Public Speaking

The 2010 State Championships.
I was only thirteen years old when I was given my first script, a duet for a Middle School Speech meet. After a rough couple of rehearsals, my partner and I were thrown into the Lion's Den of Nebraska Forensics and after a third place finish my journey began. Early on through theater productions, the coaches noticed me as an actor, but soon realized my talent as an Orator. My senior year of high school ended with over 50 medals in four years, including five state medals, three district titles & one individual state championship in Persuasive Speaking, and a major contributor to four straight Class C State Championships. Senior year, I gave speeches at both Honor’s Day (on behalf of the National Honor Society) & Graduation. In December of 2012, I gave a speech on behalf of the College of Business Administration at Nebraska to inform and recruit Omaha area Seniors to Nebraska and CBA. . In the Fall of 2013, I spoke to over 300 Nebraska donors, family members, faculty, and Chancellor Perlman at a tailgate event before a home football game. Later I spoke on behalf of CBA at the same Omaha event as in 2012, the video is above.

Computers: Mobiles, Macs, and More

At HQ for the CBA IT Department.
I love computers, big and small. I think that in business in particular, there is not a more important tool at the fingertips of so many people. I was lucky enough to be exposed to them at a young age and develop extensive experience with them. I currently use a Mac, but am very familiar with Windows, owning two HP laptops. In 2012 and 2013, I worked at the UNL Computer Help Desk at the 501 Building, helping customers and comparing computers. I worked at the CBA IT Desk answering phones my second year at the University, assisting Walk-In Customers and helping students, faculty and staff inside of the College of Business in person. Helping people on a face to face level is the best part of my new job and I am thankful to be working there. Delegation, skill, and most importantly patience are the key factors in being successful in Customer Service environment, the latter I am currently working on. But, my computer experience doesn't end at simply knowing software but using them to creatively design projects that I have worked on. I also have a very detailed knowledge of social media.
